Tunis^5 Van Wicklen (Gerrit^4, Evert^3, Gerrit^2, Jentie^1 Jeppes) was b.
3 January 1765 in Jamaica, Queens, NY and was
bap. 16 February 1765, Jamaica RDC. He died 2 September 1852 at age 87-7-29, and was buried in the Lott/Snedker Burial Ground,
Jamaica. He married Mary Smith (b. 31 March 1776 and bap. 31 March 1776; died 4 September 1844 at age 68-5-4, Jamaica) on 28
February 1794, Jamaica Presbyterian. (I have a
copy of the will of Tunis Van Wicklen sworn before Morris Fosdick, County Judge

Children: Maria^6 Van
Wicklen, b. 7 July 1794, and bap. 14 September 1794, Jamaica RDC, NY. She married Jerome
Snediker, 7 December 1810, Jamaica, NY and she died 9 October 1873; Phebe^6 Van Wicklen who was b. 20 March 1796,
bap. 22 May 1796, Jamaica RDC, NY. She died 4 April 1852 and age 56--0-15. Phebe m. Luke Eldert (b. 1786 and d. 1845) 9 March
1815 Jamaica RDC.
Luke and Phebe (Van Wicklen) Eldert had 12 children and two of them (Tunis and Garret) were give Van Wicklen as their
middle name. The children of Luke and Phebe are: Samuel Eldert (b. 18 November 1815, 25 February 1870), Mary Elizabeth
Eldert (b. 6 October 1817, d. 2 September 1819), Tunis Van Wicklen Eldert (b. 15 march 1820, d. 19 December 1877), Abraham
Ditmas Eldert (b. 30 April 1823, d. 7 May 1823), Garret Van Wicklen Eldert (b. 5 April 1824, d. 19 Janurary 1890), Abraham
Ditmas Eldert (b. 30 January 1827, d. 10 July 1827), Luke Eldert (b. 11 April 1828, d. 26 July 1828), Elizabeth Eldert (b. 9
March 1830, d. 25 February 1889), Aletta Maria Eldert (b. 5 May 1831, d. 15 January 1835), John Henry Eldert (b. 7 June
1834; d. 24 January 1835), Caroline Ditmas Eldert (b. 10 December 1834; d. 6 April 1836), and Luke Eldert (b. 17 May 1837, d.
11 March 1910). Note that seven of these twelve children died in childhood: Mary Elizabeth (23 months), Abraham Ditmas (one
week), Abraham Ditmas "II" (5 months), Luke (3 months), Aletta Maria (3 years, 8 months), John Henry (7 months), and

Tunis Van Wicklen and his wife Maria Smith, plus two of their daughters, Maria Van Wicklen (wife of Jeromus Snedeker) and Phebe Van Wicklen
(wife of Luke Eldert) are buried there. Also, the daughter of Garrett Van Wicklen and Gaertje Lott, Catherine Van Wicklen (wife of Samuel
Eldert, Jr.) is buried here.
